I always enjoy reading the frequent writings by Leslie GH Pride Collins in your View Point section. Well written, not too wordy, entertaining, and informative. Just a fun read.
Regarding his piece in the Feb. 1, 2017 issue titled, “Conservative Yanks?” I remember hearing similar observations from some of my European colleagues who came for a work exchange when I was a lab chemist at an international company in the 90s. They remarked how we Americans seemed to have less freedom of dress. They were surprised that we all seemed to wear jeans under our lab coats, as if it were mandatory.
Over the years I’ve had the pleasure to work with colleagues from several countries, but I especially enjoyed working with my colleagues from England. It was like getting to know cousins that I never knew I had and they made me realize how our American culture still has it roots in England.
