I like Yesterday’s. It fits into the scale and feel of Warwick, NY. Lunch on days when other restaurants are closed and good late night bar food. I’m sorry it’s closing.
But this new thing proposed for Elm St. is not Yesterday’s. It’s Tomorrow’s. Or it’s Yesterday’s-on-Steroids. You cannot grow almost four times bigger and maintain the same sensibility that so many people appreciate. The scale of parking, noise from larger heating, air conditioning, refrigeration units, open decks, delivery trucks and especially extended hours makes it a different animal. Four times bigger, but staff is not even doubling. Yelp reviews are already mixed about current staffing.
Warwick has been both lucky and smart at planning growth, keeping things in scale. This new proposal is a Big Box Pub right in the middle of a neighborhood. Imagine the Jolly Onion as your immediate neighbor. Here comes Rockland County! As our President might say: “Wrong. Really, really Wrong. Really Bad.”
