When I think of the highest qualifications a person could have to be a judge, I think of Kenneth Del Vecchio. Here’s a rather astounding list of accomplishments in criminal law: (1) Kenneth Del Vecchio is the author of some of the best-selling legal books in the country; specifically, he’s the author of the New York Criminal Codebook (and other states’ codebooks), which are published by leading publishers such as Pearson Education and the New York Law Journal; (2) He’s taught criminal law to a few thousand police officers; (3) He is a criminal lawyer who has tried hundreds of cases as a criminal defense attorney and prosecutor, and handled thousands of others; (4) He is a frequent legal analyst on major TV networks; and (5) Kenneth Del Vecchio was a judge in New Jersey. Aside from his substantial expertise, Kenneth Del Vecchio is as fair as it gets. I often have been on air with him on radio, and whether I agree with him or not about a topic, I know that he thoughtfully considers every position–and he always provides a fair result. There’s nothing more one can ask of a judge.
