Join the Fight to Close the CPV Power Plant in Wawayanda
Editor,
Have you smelled the stench being emitted from the CPV power plant? Are you worried you and your children will be exposed to the oil and gas pollutants spewing from there? The plant may be in Wawayanda but it is only five to 15 miles away from your home in Warwick NY. CPV pollution is very much a Warwick problem.
On a directly related topic, did you follow the Joe Percoco corruption trial? He has been convicted of soliciting and receiving bribes to influence the permitting process for CPV from New York State. Meanwhile, millions of your state and local tax dollars are supporting the foreign corporation profiting from this CPV mess.
What can you do to protect our wallets, our air and our political integrity? Join the picket line in front of the CPV plant on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Contact your County representatives and demand that they review all permits and freeze County money (your money) paying for tax breaks for CPV. You can stay up-to-date about CPV news by visiting Protect Orange County and/or the Sustainable Warwick web pages and following Protect Orange County and Sustainable Warwick Infrastructure Committee on Facebook. To join the fight, please send an email to SustainableWarwick5@gmail.com.
