Members of the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society and the General Pulaski Memorial Committee of Orange County participated in the annual Pulaski Day Parade in New York City on Sun., Oct. 1. The parade has been held annually since 1937 on Fifth Ave. in Manhattan to commemorate Kazimierz Pulaski, a Polish hero of the American Revolutionary War.
Organized by the General Pulaski Committee Vice President, Theresa Glowaczewski, the two organizations came to NYC to honor the 2017 O.C. Contingent Marshal, Joan Poloniak Sullivan of Pine Island, and Teresa Yanosh, the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society’s 2017 Citizen of the Year, who is also a Pine Island resident.
Joan Sullivan proudly marched in the parade with an impressive group of supporters behind her along with a lovely float carrying Miss Polonia and her Court. Teresa rode the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society float waving to the many enthusiastic spectators.
