The Ramapo Catskill Library System held its annual Battle of the Books on Sun., Sept. 10 at Orange Hall in Middletown, NY. Teens in grades six through 12 competed from sixteen public libraries throughout the library system from Orange, Sullivan and Rockland counties. The teens answered trivia questions based on eight books representing a variety of genres and interests.
The Albert Wisner Public Library (AWPL) placed second out of the sixteen teams, led by Warwick co-captains Lizzie Lepre and Maya Bialas. The final match was between Warwick and the returning champions, Daniel Pierce Library, of Grahamsville, NY, who won first place for the fourth year in a row. Rounding out third place this year was the Nanuet Public Library of Rockland County.
Titles for the upcoming 2018 season will be announced at the Teen Advisory Board meeting to be held on Sat., Dec. 16. The Battle of the Books has been sponsored by AWPL Foundation members Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes since its inception, as well as a grant from Stewarts Holiday Match.
