The Albert Wisner Public Library, located at 1 McFarland Dr. in Warwick, will host a discussion and book signing with local author Carole Howard on Sun., Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. Carole will read from her book, “Tales of a Silver-Haired Volunteer” and talk about making a late-in-life decision to volunteer in the developing world with her husband. The couple worked with gorillas in Uganda, sex workers in Ghana, orphans in Namibia and more.
Before writing her travel memoir, Carole wrote two novels, “About Face” and “Deadly Adagio.” She has lived in Warwick for 35 years, but has traveled to more than 50 countries. The five volunteer trips she describes in her book, however, were completely different from her trips as a tourist. As she says in her book, “Traveling is an adventure; coming home to Warwick is an embrace.”
Copies of Carole’s book will be available for purchase with a book signing following the discussion. To register for this program call the library at 986-1047, ext. 3 or visit www.albertwisnerlibrary.org.
