Story by Jennifer O’Connor
Large crowds and traffic congestion in Town during Applefest on Sun., Oct. 2 is not unexpected for Warwick residents. But, Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton said at the Warwick Town Board meeting on Thurs., Sept. 22, that there may be heavier traffic than anticipated on Rte. 17A because of Applefest and the in Tuxedo, NY.
“I caution people that the Renaissance Faire is continuing that weekend which is unusual for them,” said Sweeton, who advises residents to seek alternate routes.
Some alternate routes to consider are: Sugar Loaf, Florida, Pine Island and Vernon, NJ. Applefest will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on South St. and Railroad Ave. in the Village of Warwick.
Give Bluebirds a Home & Help the Community Center
At the event there will be crafters, vendors, the Farmers’ Market as well as music, a children’s carnival, and many non-profit groups. To help support local organizations visit their tables and participate in their fundraisers. Stop by the Warwick Valley Community Center’s booth and at the same time give a home to bluebirds by purchasing a birdhouse.
The design of the boxes is old fashioned, handmade, rustic and very practical. The front door lifts out allowing for a simple yearly sweep. They are designed just for bluebirds. Houses not sold during Applefest at the Community Center booth will be available at the Center. For more information call 845-986-6422.
