The Warwick Valley Central School District (WVCSD), for the sixth year in a row, has received the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. The Foundation this week recognized 583 districts nationwide for their unwavering commitment to, and support of, music education. The award recognizes the commitment of school administrators, community leaders, teachers, and parents who believe in music education and are working to ensure that music is part of a complete education for all children.
School districts that receive this designation are often held up as models for schools looking to boost their own music education programs. At WVCSD, students in grades four through 12 participate in band and orchestra, chorus, Music in Our Lives, and Music Production. In grades three and four, all students participate in chorus and from kindergarten through eighth grade all students take general music.
