The Albert Wisner Public Library, located at 1 McFarland Dr. in Warwick, will offer a series of college readiness programs for teens this October.
“All About College Admissions & Financial Aid” will be offered on Wed., Oct. 10 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. and is open to high school students and parents. The program will help to demystify the daunting college admissions and financial aid processes and help attendees gain insight into this complex and stressful experience.
Some of the topics to be covered include: College search and the importance of finding the right fit, the application process, managing deadlines, and more. The presenter is Elizabeth Levine from Signature College Counseling in Central Valley, NY.
How to Write an Outstanding College Application Essay
This workshop will be presented on Tues., Oct. 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jill Mante will teach tips and tricks needed to write the best application essay. There is no rough draft required.
College Application Essay Workshop: One-on-One Help
The Library will offer one-on-one help with the process of writing a college essay on Tues., Oct. 23 and Tues., Oct. 30. Attendees should bring their rough draft and Jill Mante will help shape it into an essay. In the second session she will help students’ fine tune the edited draft and finish the essay.
