Warwick’s Repair Café may be just starting up but after only three sessions it has already inspired a handful of others to start repair cafés in their own towns and has been written about in the New York Times.
Future Repair Cafes will be held on the third Saturday of the month, every other month, at the Warwick Senior Center, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick. The upcoming Saturday dates are Mar. 18, May 20, Jul. 15, Sept. 16 and Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. While watching and learning as items are being repaired, children can learn to use a screwdriver and pliers at the new “Kids Take-Apart Area.”
Orange Regional Medical Center staff will offer a free cardiac screening at the Sat., Mar. 18 event. If anyone would like to donate home-baked goods, call 544-1056 to volunteer time and skills.
