Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announces that State Senator John Bonacic has secured a $250,000 grant to enhance the County’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The funds will be used to construct a Veterans committal facility that will allow funerals to be conducted in a respectful and honorable manner in line with the traditions of our national Cemetery.
The 19-acre Veterans Memorial Cemetery has 12,500 plots. Approximately 3,400 men and women are buried there, including 2,700 veterans. There are approximately 250 burial services held at the County’s Cemetery each year. Construction of the committal facility will begin in the spring of 2019 and should be completed by the fall.
