Several outstanding local bands and solo artists will join together on Sun., Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park, located at the end of Windermere Ave. in Greenwood Lake, to raise money to support the creation of the GWL Skatepark in memory of Dale Hirrel. A minimum donation of $10 is suggested.
Dale grew up skateboarding in and around Greenwood Lake and the surrounding areas. He and his friends always dreamed of having a skatepark in their village. After graduating from the Greenwood Lake Middle School, Dale attended Tuxedo High School. When Tuxedo no longer accepted Greenwood Lake students, he went to Chester Academy before transferring to Warwick High School. Tragically, Dale passed away as a passenger in a car accident on Apr. 30, 2016. He was just 16 years old, he was special and he is missed.
The community of Greenwood Lake is now poised to build the GWL Skatepark that Dale dreamed of. The “Do It For Dale!” concert is the first fundraiser to kick start the efforts to raise the estimated $200,000 to $300,000 needed to build the skatepark. One hundred percent of all proceeds from this concert will go toward the design/construction fund for the park.
All ages are encouraged to attend. Bring a chair or a blanket, spend a summer evening listening to local talent and help Greenwood Lake build their tribute to Dale.
