The Amity Gallery, located at 110 Newport Bridge Rd. in Warwick will host an artist’s reception on Sat., Nov. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. for photographer George J. Nicholson.
Nicholson studied photographic science as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the late 1960s, while majoring in visual design. Many of his projects are triggered by dreams or by following the slender threads of synchronicity. His work centers around themes of personal transformation and the cycle of the seasons, taking the form of books, exhibitions and short films. George lives and works in Kingston, NY, drawing inspiration from the manifold glories of the Mid-Hudson Valley.
The Gallery will present Pechakucha Night #4 on Sat., Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. The event will include short presentations on a variety of subjects including: helicopter piloting, Botswana Safari, life in an internment camp, and other interesting and eye-opening tales. This concise form of telling stories, 20 images projected for 20 seconds each, was started in Japan and is now in 900 cities around the world. The cost is $5.
The Amity Gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon to 4 p.m. For more information call Diane at 258-0277.
