The Classic Choral Society will celebrate spring with a concert of music by written by contemporary choral composers. Performances are scheduled for Sat., Apr. 28 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, located at 58 W. Main St. in Middletown, NY and on Sun., May 6 at 4 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, located at 2 Old Dominion Rd. in Blooming Grove, NY. No tickets are required but a free will offering will be taken during intermission.
The choral group is directed by Janiece Kohler and accompanied by Dr. Ruthanne Schempf. Featured composers will include Norwegian composers Ola Gjeilo and Kim André Arnesen. Also on the program is “Songs and Sonnets,” an extended work in which the words of William Shakespeare were set to music by the late jazz pianist George Shearing.
