Get ready to meet the hilarious Turpin family when they descend on the Warwick Valley High School theater this November in the Drama Club’s presentation of the comedy. “Dearly Departed,” written by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones, produced by Donna Nestor and directed by Nick DiLeo.
Originally produced by the Club in 2007, new audience members will get to meet the Turpins as they prove that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Brought together as a result of the passing of the family’s patriarch, Bud, the characters reflect on life, death and family as they prepare for the funeral.
Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need and, finally, the funeral. Audience members may just see themselves or their families in this hysterical play. The Club’s long-time director, Nick DiLeo, who also directed the original version, is at the helm once again.
Performances of “Dearly Departed” will be presented at the Warwick Valley High School Theatre, located at 89 Sanfordville Rd. in Warwick, on Thurs., Nov. 2, Fri., Nov. 3 and Sat., Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $6 for senior citizens and will be sold at the door. No advance tickets will be sold. It is noted that this production is not recommended for younger audience members.
