A Daughter’s Dangerous Descent into Heroin Addiction & Her Path To Recovery
Family Central will present a program on Thurs., May 10 at 6:30 p.m. that tells a story of addiction from a mother’s viewpoint. Addiction has some basis in heredity, but it can happen to anyone. Even the best and brightest are no match, because you don’t handle opioids – they handle you. Attendees will learn some of the signs that could be easily missed in the beginning. Get information on where to go for help and the resources to help fight an adversary like no other. Understand that this is an epidemic now claiming 122 lives a day – some right here in Warwick.
Stress Relief for Parents & Children
Debra Leporati will lead a discussion on Sat., May 12 at 1 p.m. on the origins and science behind the growing popularity of EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique. Practice “tapping” for stress relief for yourself for as the parent shifts, so does the child. Scenarios for children will be explored as well as resources for further support and practice.
Debra Leporati has been utilizing EFT for well over a decade both for herself and with others. She originally studied the work of founder Gary Craig and later discovered Nick Ortner, the New York Times bestselling author of “The Tapping Solution,” and even tapped with him at a conference. This year was her fifth consecutive year participating in his organization’s annual Tapping World Summit. Debra has been a teacher for over 33 years.
Understanding Learning Disabilities
The Library will host a program on Sat., May 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon entitled, “Understanding Learning Disabilities” with Jessica Pogglioli, designed for parents of children of all ages. The discussion will deal with the assessment of learning disabilities and educational issues that arise once they are diagnosed. Gain new insights and learn what questions and issues parents share.
Dr. Poggioli specializes in ADHD coaching and the assessment of learning disabilities and giftedness and is a licensed psychologist in both New Jersey and New York.
