St. Anthony Community Hospital will host a free informational event on Tues., Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. in celebration of National Cholesterol Education Month. Morrison Healthcare Specialists of the hospital, under the direction of Mark Brezina, CDM, will discuss the many nutritional benefits of choosing to eat more vibrantly colored fruits and vegetables. The presentation will be held in the Greenbrier Room at Mount Alverno Center, located at 20 Grand St. in Warwick. Janine Killeen, RD, CDE, CDN will be the host, along with other presenters including Lynn Palmieri, DTR; Gigi Fried, RD; and Chef Brian Smyth, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.
During the evening, guests will have an opportunity to learn how to lower cholesterol levels featuring a cooking nstration using local market fruits and vegetables, lean meats and foods with soluble fiber. Free product samples will be provided as well as a tasting from the cooking demonstration.
As an added bonus, there will be a slide show presentation, courtesy of Administrator Marjorie Grassfield, of the picturesque Mount Alverno Center, a state-approved adult home with an assisted living program.
