The rain didn’t stop the close to 100 community members on Sat., May 19, who participated in the second annual PTSA Color Run, which was held on the walking track at the CVS field in Greenwood Lake.
The original route included side streets, however due to the rain the running path was moved to the track. Despite the rainy morning, children and adults walked/ran the one mile track four times with smiles on their faces. The track was decorated with balloon arches. Volunteers and spectators stood along-side the path cheering on runners. Participants were sprayed with color safe colors as they made their way around the track.
Breakfast treats and coffee from Greenwood Lake Bagels were available during the event, as well as games hosted by the National Junior Honor Society for the children as they waited for the event to begin. The PTSA sold raffle tickets for a summer basket and tickets will be available at next month’s ice cream social.
After all the participants completed the run, they gathered on the field and doused themselves and their teammates with color. It was a rainbow of colors, laughter and fun by all the children. The PTSA sends a huge thank you to Susan Wilbur for volunteering as a DJ and sharing her Zumba moves with the crowd. Sue kept everyone energized and excited.
The PTSA stated, “A huge thank you to all involved in this fantastic event. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated group of individuals. And with all the additional stress due to Mother Nature, they all powered through and didn’t miss a beat. If nothing else it is certainly memorable.”
