The Florida Public Library, located at 4 Cohen Cir. in Florida, will present “Tell Your Story,” a memoir workshop with Ken Karnas on Thurs., Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Master storyteller Ken Karnas will present samples of memoirs and teach participants how to tell their own story. Karnas is a member of the New Jersey Storytelling Network and a retired elementary/middle school teacher.
The workshop will offer an overview of the genre. Topics will include: Why Tell; Why NOT to Tell; Truth in Memoir; Mining for Story Ideas; and How to Tell. Handout notes will be provided and lots of at-home activities will be suggested. Although this is a storytelling workshop, most of its content could also be useful to writers of memoir/personal narrative. The evening is open to adults and teens over age 16. To register call the Library at 651-7659 or visit www.floridapubliclibrary.org.
