The Warwick Valley Rod and Gun Club will hold its annual “Take a Kid Fishing Day” on Sat., May 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Baird Farm, located on Baird’s Ln. in Warwick NY. This event is for children from age five through 14 who reside in the Town of Warwick and don’t have access to a stream for fishing.
On the morning of the event, members of the club will stock approximately 400 trout for the benefit of the children. This is not a contest so every child who participates, whether they catch a fish or not, will receive a prize. Prizes have included fishing rod and reel combos, tackle boxes, lures, and other outdoor recreation items not necessarily related to fishing.
Seeking Monetary Donations
In recent years, attendance at this event has grown tremendously. The club is seeking monetary donations or donation of items related to fishing or the outdoors in general from the community to help support this event. All donations will be used exclusively to support this event.
Contributions can be mailed to Warwick Valley Rod and Gun Club, P.O. Box 376, Warwick, NY 10990. Donated articles can be scheduled for pick up by calling Jerry Debold at 986-5001.
