Story by Katie Bisaro
It’s that time of year when the ghosts and goblins appear, patrolling the neighborhoods for treats and parading the streets of the Village of Warwick. The Village of Warwick will hold its annual Halloween parade on Wed., Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. Line-up will be at 4:30 p.m. on Church St. The parade will process down Main St. to the Railroad Green.
The event, co-sponsored by the Village of Warwick Recreation Department and the Warwick Lions Club, will include a Costume Contest on the Railroad Green following the parade.
Local Streets to Close Halloween Night
For the past several years, families have flocked to the neighborhood off Oakland Ave., near the Community Center, to trick or treat, making it unsafe to have cars on those streets. As it did last year, the Village of Warwick will close Oakland Ct., Welling Ave. and Orchard St. (west of Elm St.) to vehicular traffic from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Halloween for safety reasons. Notifications will be distributed throughout the neighborhood regarding the road closures to allow residents who live there to plan accordingly.
Curfews Are Set for Oct. 30 & 31
The Village of Warwick will impose a curfew on all Village streets, parks and other public areas on Tues., Oct. 30 and Wed., Oct. 31 for all persons under the age of 18, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The curfew will be in effect beginning Tues., Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Wed., Oct. 31. The curfew will be imposed again on Wed., Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. and will end on Thurs., Nov. 1 at 6 a.m.
