The Town of Warwick, which has been named an Appalachian Trail (AT) Community, will be the site of a four-mile, round-trip hike on the trail to support and celebrate Family Hiking Day on Sat., Sept. 30 at 9:30 a.m. The hike will begin at the AT kiosk at the top of Mt. Peter on Rte. 17A (opposite Bellvale Creamery) and will lead to spectacular views overlooking Greenwood Lake.
Adults and children who would like to participate should bring some water and a healthy snack and come prepared to breathe in the fresh autumn air and enjoy the beauty of the Appalachian Trail. The hike will be guided by Gene Giordano, Warwick AT Community leader, and Aura Lehrer, an avid hiker and lover of nature. When not at her studio, Vastu, teaching yoga, Aura is happily in the woods. Gene has been an active volunteer with the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference for more than 30 years and is a professional musician, performing and teaching in Warwick since 1970.
Hikers will meet at the Appalachian Trail Kiosk 9:30 a.m. and should allow four hours for the hike. To find a more detailed hike description, visit the Warwick AT Community at www.HikeWarwick.com. For more information about the hike send an email to GeneGiordanoGuitar@gmail.com.
