The Warwick Valley Central School District will offer their Continuing Community Education Program for the fall. Registration is now open for lap swim, water aerobics, stained glass, yoga, and volleyball.
Lap Swim will be offered for swimmers 16 years of age and older in the Warwick High School Pool, located at 89 Sanfordville Rd. in Warwick. The fall session runs from Mon., Sept. 11 to Fri., Jan. 26. The spring session runs from Mon., Jan. 29 to Fri., Jun. 15. The morning session is from 5:45 to 7:15 a.m. and the evening lap session is from 8:30 to 10 p.m. These are held only when school is in session. The cost is $95 per person.
Recreational Swim Program
The Recreational Swim Program will be offered on Fridays from Fri., Sept. 15 to Fri., Jun. 15 in the Warwick High School pool from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. This program runs only when school is in session. The pool is closed once a month for maintenance. View the pool schedule and closings, which is also posted at the pool. No registration is required and the cost is $3 per swimmer at the door.
Water Aerobics will be offered at the high school pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. Classes will begin on Tues., Sept. 26 and continue for eight weeks. The class will include stretch and rhythm exercise to music in the pool, designed to tone up the muscles and the cardiovascular system.
This is a low-impact, no-stress workout. No swimming skills are required and the maximum class size is 20. The instructor is J. Zombek and the cost is $80 per person.
Yoga & Mindfulness Practices
Yoga and Mindfulness Practices will be offered on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Sanfordville Elementary School library, located at 144 Sanfordville Rd. in Warwick. Classes will begin on Wed., Sept. 27 and continue for ten weeks. This is a traditional yoga class with energetic practices including stretching, balance and flowing vinyasa along with a blend of gentle yoga practices. The instructor is S. DeBergh and the cost is $100 per person.
Co-ed Volleyball for Adults
Co-ed Volleyball for adults will be offered in the Sanfordville Elementary School gymnasium. The Tuesday session, which will begin on Tues., Sept. 26, will be held for eight weeks from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The cost is $80 per person. The Thursday session, which will begin on Thurs., Sept. 28 will take place for ten weeks from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per person.
Stained Glass Workshop
The Stained Glass Workshop will meet on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Warwick Middle School art room 1, located at 225 West St. Ext. in Warwick. Classes will begin on Wed., Sept. 27 and meet for eight weeks. The class will offer an introduction to the skills and techniques of making items in stained glass. Students will complete the designing, pattern making, cutting, assembling, and soldering of a finished product. The instructor is M. Behle and the cost is $80 per person.
Five-Hour Pre-Licensing Course
The Five-Hour Pre-Licensing Course, which is required by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, is offered once a month in Room 155 of the Warwick High School. Enrollees must have a NYS Learner’s Permit. To find class dates and to register, call 987-3000, ext. 10526. The cost is $30 per person.
