The Drowned Lands Historical Society and the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce will host an “Evening of Artifacts” event on Thurs., Jul. 20 starting at 6 p.m. at Bob Sodrick’s farm on Van Sickle Hill in Pine Island. This free, family friendly, fun, outdoor event will be held on private lands open to the public for one night only. Participants who attend can learn about native lands, black dirt and history as they search for artifacts in the freshly tilled black dirt.
To get to the Sodrick farm, head north from Pine Island on Pulaski Hwy. and then turn left on Van Sickle Ln. After 100 yards, turn on to a dirt lane and follow that to the farm. For more information visit the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DrownedLandsHistoricalSociety/.
