Taking candy from children is usually frowned upon, but teaching kids the value of giving back by donating their excess Halloween candy in support of U.S. Troops and First Responders is a win-win for kids, parents, and dentists alike.
This Halloween, students who attend the Faithful Friday program at the Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church joined kids all across the nation by donating their Halloween candy and writing letters of gratitude to Troops and First Responders. Thirty-three pounds of collected candy was shipped to Operation Gratitude for inclusion in Care Packages to U.S. service members deployed overseas and to First Responders serving here at home.
Faithful Friday is the Christian education program at the church. For more information about the program, call Charlotte Mifsud at 469-8605.
