The Florida Community Food Pantry has tremendous purchasing power through the Hudson Valley Food Bank and Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. Many items can be purchased for as little as 16 cents a pound. The pantry has been busy preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions by stuffing stockings and providing yams, green beans and the like. Some typical holiday meal items aren’t available through the food banks, however.
A $25 donation can help the pantry complete the holiday meal package for a local family. The pantry will gladly accept donations of turkeys and hams also. The pantry team appreciates the tremendous support that the community has shown through donations and volunteerism. Every week they are humbled by the kindness and generosity of so many individuals who support their mission to combat food insecurity.
Monetary donations can be sent to the Florida Community Food Pantry, P.O. Box 94, Florida, NY 10921. Write “holiday meal sponsor” on the memo line. Turkeys and hams can be dropped off by contacting Beth at 551-6766, Laura at 651-2336, Annette at 651-0212, or Cindy at 651-8135.
