The Florida Public Library’s annual budget vote and trustee election will be held on Thurs., Apr. 6 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the library, located at 4 Cohen Cir. in Florida. The library is a school district public library, sharing the same geographical boundaries as the Florida Union Free School district.
Included on the ballot will be the proposition for the library’s operating budget and the election of three trustees for terms commencing July 1. Two terms are for three years and one term is for one year. The candidate receiving the fewest votes will earn the one year term. The open seats are those of incumbents Beth Pskowski, William Kelemen and Nancy Scott.
The 2017-2018 proposed tax levy for voters’ approval is $443,940, which represents an increase of $15,590 over the current year. Copies of the budget are available in the library.
Voter registration forms and absentee ballot applications are available at the Library. Eligible voters must be registered either with the school or with the county Board of Elections for the general election.
