I have written about this in the past but it has come up again recently, we’ve had a few bear encounters with some garbage containers. I encourage anyone who has had an issue to visit https://www.dec.ny.gov/press/105939.html and follow these guidelines to help keep our wild neighbors from getting into anymore trouble.
This time of year animals are preparing for the colder months ahead, particularly our largest wild animals the black bear. They will look for the easiest opportunity they can to find and gain calories for hibernation this winter. Keeping them out of our trash will keep them from causing bigger problems in the future.
Florida is a great place to live and interact with the outdoors, we have a unique mixture of a suburban setting with rural and wild spaces right next door.
