Frances Bachmann, owner of FriYo Yogurt Cafe & Fine Chocolates, which is located at 26 Railroad Ave. in Warwick, sadly announced on Thurs., Jul. 13 that the business will be closed permanently. The announcement was posted on FriYo’s Facebook and Instagram social media accounts early Thursday morning.
A post on the FriYo Facebook page read: “With a heavy heart we regret to inform you, that due to compromising circumstances beyond our control, we are propelled to permanently close FriYo. We thank all of our loyal customers and those in the community that have supported us for over two years. We are forever grateful.”
FriYo Yogurt Cafe & Fine Chocolates will be missed by many people who were anticipating their grand reopening after a fire last April, which is believed to have started inside the walls of the former La Piazza Wine Bar.
FriYo opened its doors in March of 2015 and quickly became a local favorite to many people. The contemporary chocolate shop located right in the heart of Warwick served as a cozy gathering place for friends and families. Seating was available inside and on the courtyard that overlooks the historic Railroad Station on Railroad Ave.
They offered premium organic, non-dairy, vegan, frozen yogurt and soft serve gelato. In addition, they offered a wide variety of chocolate treats from world renowned chocolatiers, beautiful custom gift baskets, delicious protein shakes, an espresso bar, premium hot cocoa and herbal teas. The business played host to the popular Art and Chocolate Series that showcased and supported the work of local artists and organizations in Warwick.
They also held an Annual Holiday Toy Drive that provided toys and goods for the less fortunate children and families in the community while helping to raise funds for the local food pantry.
