The Florida Presbyterian Church, which provides space for the Florida Community Food Pantry, embarked on a fundraising campaign over ten years ago to create a new and separate space for the pantry. Construction on the new building began in 2016. Due to unanticipated changes to the design and associated construction costs, along with new code requirements, additional funding is needed to complete the project.
The handicapped accessible building will include approximately 1,056 square feet of dedicated food pantry space, a church office and an unfinished attic to be used for storage. The pantry serves families in Florida, Goshen, Chester, Pine Island, Greenwood Lake and Warwick, as many other pantries are not open on a weekly basis.
