The Greenwood Lake Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Greenwood Lake Police Benevolent Association (PBA) was held on Sat., Mar. 31 at the Arthur Finnegan American Legion Post 1443 in Greenwood Lake. This annual Easter Egg Hunt has been a Village tradition for almost 40 years, and the crowds this year were large on the sunny Saturday morning.
Children and their families excitedly hunted for eggs filled with candy and toys. Following the egg hunt everyone gathered in the pavilion area for snacks, participated in a jelly bean counting contest and an Easter Bonnet contest. Children anxiously awaited the arrival of the special guest, the Easter Bunny, who then posed for pictures with the children and handed out lollipops.
The winner of the jelly bean contest was Mark O’Mahoney with a guess of 1,396 jelly beans. The container was filled with 1,470 jelly beans. The winners of the Easter Bonnet contest were Elijah Caric, Quinn Westphal, Zachary Packer, and Billy Bowman III. The winners received large Easter baskets filled with candy and toys. All of the children who entered in the bonnet contest received chocolate Easter bunnies.
G.L. Police Chief John Hansen, who attended the event with his family, said, “Thank you to all the residents who came out and joined us today. It makes all the effort worthwhile. The Greenwood Lake PBA would like to thank the American Legion for their support and always being there for the community. Youth Officer Leanne Malara put in a great effort to bring the egg hunt together, with support from other members of the Department.”
