The Greenwood Lake School Board meeting was held on Wed., Jun. 13 in the Elementary School Gymnasium. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steven Cohen opened the meeting by thanking Board member Greg Gibel for his service for the last six years.
Dr. Cohen said, “Greg has been a tremendous asset to the Board.”
Gibel, who did not seek re-election, was presented with a service plaque award for his service on the Board and his dedication to the school community.
Tenure was granted and cake was served to honor to the following staff members: Amy Petrassi, Director of Pupil Personnel Services; Allison Ascher, Elementary School teacher; and Jennifer Koch, School Psychologist. Cheryl Prall who was granted tenure in April, was present and honored also.
Appointment of New Staff
Christine Pallus was appointed to the position of Elementary School teacher. Samantha Hayek was appointed to the position of Special Education teacher. Christopher Murray was appointed to the position of Custodial Worker.
Katheleen Holder Honored
Village Trustee Katheleen Holder was presented with flowers on behalf of the students at the Middle School. A group of seventh graders, representing fellow students, thanked Holder for all she does for the students, the school, the summer recreation program, the teen center, and the community overall.
Village Liaison Report
Trustee Holder reported that the list of concerts and events is available on the Village website and the Facebook page. Holder also congratulated all of the graduating classes and gave best wishes on behalf of the Village.
Patricia Wark, the vice president of the G.L. PTSA, would like to wish the students and staff a wonderful summer on behalf of the PTSA.
The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tues., Jul. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Elementary School Gymnasium, located at 80 Waterstone Rd. in Greenwood Lake.
