The Greenwood Lake School Board met on Tues., Jul. 3 and voted on the new president and vice president. The members unanimously voted Susan Selser to represent the Board as President.
Susan is starting her third year as a member of the Board. Michael Buckley, who has served as President for the past year, will continue to sit on the Board. Superintendent Dr. Steven Cohen and President Susan Selser thanked Michael for all of his hard work and dedication to the Board.
Kevin Tuhy, who is beginning second year on the Board, was unanimously elected as vice president. Selser, along with the Board, accepted the resignation of elementary school teacher Lisa Quick saying, “Thank you Lisa Quick for your service. She was an awesome teacher and we wish her well.”
Village Liaison Report
Greenwood Lake Village Trustee Katheleen Holder, who was not in attendance, reported via email with a reminder to the community about the Summer Concerts as well as free zumba, yoga and circuit training classes that are offered on the weekends at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park.
The Summer Academy for students began on Mon., Jul. 9. There are 320 students enrolled in the academy, which offers various sessions such as cooking, clay making, and woodworking.
The next Board of Education Meeting will be held on Wed., Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Greenwood Lake Elementary School, located at 80 Waterstone Rd. in Greenwood Lake NY.
