National Drug Give Back Day that will be held on Sat., Apr. 28 was created to provide a safe, easy, and responsible way of disposing of unwanted or expired medications including controlled substances. Many times, prescription drugs can find their way into the wrong hands. This day allows people to clean out their cabinets and properly dispose of unwanted medications in a safe and environmentally friendly way.
The Greenwood Lake Police Department, located at 16 Church St in Greenwood Lake, has a designated drop box in their main lobby, 24 hours a day/seven days a week. The Police Department and the Greenwood Lake Coalition would like to remind residents about the drop box. Drugs can be dropped off anytime during the day with no questions asked. However, please do not use this box to dispose of liquids, syringes or any type of medical equipment.
The drop box has been housed at the Police Station since 2016. Greenwood Lake was awarded a grant from the CVS/Pharmacy to prevent drug abuse by installing this box. For more information call the G.L. Police Department at 477-9211.
