Story by Janmarie Foschini
The Greenwood Lake Police Department recently announced a new program called “Are You OK?” This program, created for the benefit of senior citizens, allows the Greenwood Lake Police Department to check on residents daily, by either cell phone or landline. If no one answers the phone on the daily check, an officer will be sent to the home and will perform a check. The police and other emergency services will then respond if necessary.
The G.L. Police Department will provide an information sheet and a consent form that can be completed to participate in the program. They will even assist seniors in completing the paperwork upon request. Anyone in the G.L. Fire District is invited to participate.
For more information or to sign up, call Officer Leanne Malara at 477-9211. Forms are available at the police station or can be mailed upon request.
T-Shirt Fundraiser for G.L. PBA
The G.L. PBA is selling T-shirts to help support youth events that are hosted in the Village, as well as local causes that occur in the community. The PBA hosts several events throughout the year including the bicycle rodeo, the annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Halloween Social and Safety Event, and many more.
T-shirts are $25 each with all proceeds going back to the youth program. T-shirts can be purchased at the police station or by calling 477-9211. G.L. Officer Mike Dunlop, who is heading this program, thanks everyone for their continued support.
