Residents in the Greenwood Lake Fire District voted in favor of the construction of a new firehouse on Tues., Feb. 28. There were 166 “yes” votes and 37 “no” votes. Three votes were void.
The new firehouse will be built on Mountain Lakes Ln. in the Village of Greenwood Lake. The estimated maximum cost, including preliminary costs and incidental is $5,850,000, which will be paid through a bond.
Village of Greenwood Lake Engineer Al Fusco said that the planning board has approved all applications and environmental forms. The new firehouse will have all of the amenities needed. The next steps will require receiving a building permit by the Village Board, and they have asked to have the fees waived.
