The Village of Greenwood Lake Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Halloween festivities on Sat., Oct. 21 around the Village. Streets were decorated with scarecrows made by Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and local businesses were decked out with Halloween decorations waiting for the arrival of the trick or treaters.
The day began with children and their families trick or treating to local establishments. Village officials and local first responders were on hand to greet them with treats and smiles. Following the trick or treating event, families marched in the annual Halloween Parade sponsored by the G.L. Volunteer Fire Department.
Everyone marched through the Village waving to the crowds. The parade ended at the Ben Winstanley Park, where the annual Halloween costume contest was held. Various age groups and categories participated in the homemade costume contest and winners were awarded trophies.
The evening concluded with “Terror on the Trail,” hosted by Boy Scout Troop 121. Guests walked through a spooky trail full of fright and delight and were greeted by zombies, witches and many other Halloween creatures. The G.L. Coalition provided decorations for a scene on the trail as well. Boy Scout Troop 121 also provided a hayride, a concession stand, a rock wall, and a bounce house. The Village provided a Halloween movie for guests to enjoy.
“I love the Village of Greenwood Lake and all the organizations that make this such a great place to live. It is such an honor to be able to be a part of Boy Scout Troop 121 and to team up with organizations like the G.L. Chamber of Commerce and G.L. Fire Department to bring such a great day of events to the Village. A big thank you to everyone who volunteered to make this a great day,” said Village Trustee Katheleen Holder.
