Warwick hosted the seventh annual Hudson Valley Jazz Festival from Thurs., Aug. 11 to Sun., Aug. 14 at many local venues. A few of the events took place in other locales such as Peekskill, Pawling and Beacon. Festival organizer, Steve Rubin explained that one of the distinguishing features of this year’s festivals was that the majority of the artists were local from the Hudson Valley.
The festival opened with The New York Swing Exchange performing on Thurs., Aug. 11. Originally scheduled for the Railroad Green in Warwick, it was moved to the Warwick Reformed Church due to inclement weather. The change of location did not diminish the enjoyment of the event.
Other performances were by the Chris Persad Group, the David Crone Trio, the Jeff Ciampa Group, the Hudson Valley Jazz Ensemble, spoken word performer Michael Sean Collins, The Jazz Patients, Babatoon Collective, K.J. Denhert and her band NY Unit, and a performance that featured Mark Egan on jazz guitar, Karl Latham on percussion and Clifford Carter on keyboard.
