Imagine Warwick, a new organization in the Town of Warwick, will hold its first in a series of events entitled, “Sacred Places,” on Wed., Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. This series of celebrations hopes to honor the sacredness and beauty of the Warwick Valley and its people.
This event is free and open to the public. Live music will be featured and brief statements will be made. Everyone is asked to park in the Sanfordville Elementary School parking lot and proceed to the Peace Wall Memorial. The school is located at 144 Sanfordville Rd. in Warwick.
The Peace Wall will be adorned with luminaries creating a “Circle of Light,” instilling a sense of well-being and peace. The Memorial was created by third and fourth graders in 2003 in response to the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks and is an expression of the students’ hopes for a more peaceful and just world.
At the event, bouquets of seasonal greens will be given to the first 100 individuals or families to arrive. The bouquets have significant meaning: cedar for protection and cleansing; holly for light and life in the midst of darkness and challenge; ivy for rebirth and growth; and rosemary for fidelity and trust.
Imagine Warwick was created by a group of local residents to help honor the rich diversity of the community, while celebrating the imagination and creativity that resides within everyone.
