The Warwick Valley Middle School Prevention Team, led by Principal Georgianna Diopoulos and facilitated by the Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition, will present “Hidden Mischief” on Mon., Jun. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Middle School, located at 225 West St. in Warwick NY. The program is an interactive and informative workshop for parents and caregivers of tweens, pre-teens and teens.
Participants are invited to walk through a mock teenage bedroom to see if they can spot the references to alcohol and other drugs. Coalition member Mary Alice Presto, of the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council, will then facilitate a discussion of the items found and current alcohol and drug trends among youth. Those who arrive late will have an opportunity to walk through the bedroom after the discussion.
“Trends in drug use are rapidly changing. Social media helps spread information about how to experiment with various drug paraphernalia. It’s important that parents stay on top of these trends so that they can help their children understand the risks and consequences of underage drinking and drug use,” said Coalition Coordinator Annie Colonna.
