Warwick Valley H.S. senior Kyle LeDuc received a standing ovation when he was presented with the “12th Man Award” on Fri., Feb 3 by the New York State High School Football Coaches Association.
About twenty-five coaches, teammates, friends and family members attended the awards banquet at the Turning Stone Casino & Resort in Verona, NY to see Kyle receive the award.
The “12th Man Award” is given to a student-athlete and football player who has made significant contributions to his team while overcoming various challenges. Kyle, who was born with muscular dystrophy, has been an integral part of the football team since he was a freshman at the high school.
Kyle was featured in an article in the Jan. 25 issue of the Warwick Valley Dispatch about meeting the coaches and players of the Dallas Cowboys. For Kyle, this was a dream come true. He was also recently named “Student-Athlete of the Week,” which is sponsored by the All-State Insurance Bill Garcia Agency.
Kyle plans to attend Orange County Community College in the fall to study physical education with a concentration in athletic administration and sports management. Kyle also writes for The Survey, which is the Warwick H.S. newspaper.
