I am asking that all residents be prepared and vigilant for the Orange County Fire Parade that will be “passing through” the Village this Sat., Sept 22! The parade lineup will be on Teneyck Ave. and will start at 1 p.m. The parade itself kicks off at 2 p.m. and the route leaves Teneyck, goes over the Waterstone Rd. bridge, heads down Waterstone and makes a right onto Linden Ave.
The parade will then travel down Linden to Willow, will make a left down Windermere Ave. from Willow, and will head straight to the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park. Road closures on these roads will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday. Waterstone Rd. will be closed at approximately 1:45 p.m. Windermere Ave. will be closed from approximately 2:30 to 5 p.m. There will be music, light refreshments and an award ceremony at the park after the parade.
I would like to thank outgoing President of the Orange County Volunteer Firefighters Association, John Rader, for his service. Congratulations to Jimmy Gerstner for becoming the new President!
Teen Center Opening in October
The Greenwood Lake Coalition Teen Center is opening for the year beginning the first Wed. of October! It took our team quite a bit of time to convert the firehouse into a teen center, but it is shaping up well! We will be sending forms out through the School District, which will need to be read and signed by parents before your kids may come to the center. We are still in need of committed volunteers who can help us staff the center. We will have it open on Wed. from 4 to 6 p.m. for the younger group and from 6 to 8 p.m. for the 13 and up group. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or if you can volunteer!
