Earlier this week, the Village Water Department, along with Tam Enterprise, completed all necessary tasks to fully repair the water leak in our service. The leak could not have been in a more difficult location, which made pinpointing the source of the leak nearly impossible. Thankfully, our Water Department and Tam worked non-stop to fix the issue while keeping residential water service disruption to an absolute minimum. I cannot thank enough everyone for their hard work and I would like to thank the residents of Greenwood Lake for their patience and cooperation during this process. When the Village calls for water restrictions (reduction of usage in this case), it is extremely important to cooperate. Each home and business must share the mentality that we are ALL participating in the water reduction and without everyone’s cooperation, we could be in a lot of trouble.
The water main that leaked this past week is emblematic of the aging infrastructure that is under our Village. The Village Board has made great strides in replacing and upgrading water lines throughout our Village, but it is unfeasible to replace them all. As we continue to work on installing a new Village well, and restoring the old wells we have, we may call for additional water restrictions. As always, we will do this in a way to minimize the inconvenience to our residents. Until then, thank you to everyone involved including our water department, Tam, our Department of Public Works, Village Board and Village Clerks.
