It’s hard to believe, but summer is almost over! It seems like only yesterday I was writing about spring cleaning and hoping for warm weather. Time is passing so fast, I just realized that I have been your Mayor for almost five months! I would like to take this opportunity to update you on some of the things that we have accomplished to-date.
First, we addressed the out-dated fee schedule for the Village. While I understand that fees are never an enjoyable topic, they are necessary to offset the costs of the departments they support and keep our overall property tax lower.
Second, we have created a procurement policy. As I mentioned during my campaign, I want to promote a transparent and fiscally responsible administration; this new policy will monitor all spending of Village Employees, leverage the bidding process to ensure fair and balanced spending for outside contractors, and allow us to keep more accurate inventory.
Also, we eliminated all P.O. boxes, which will cut costs in both fees and mileage; all mail will now be routed directly to Village Hall.
Finally, we are instituting proactive maintenance processes to plan ahead and eliminate costly emergency repairs. One step at a time we can all work to build a better community together, this is why I ask for and welcome any suggestions or ideas, from you, the residents. Please feel free to send a letter, stop by or call Village Hall or reach out to me via my Facebook Page.
