The Town of Warwick will honor those who died in active military service by hosting Memorial Day Parades and Services throughout the entire Town on Mon., May 28.
The Polish Legion of American Veterans Memorial Post #16 will have a mass at 8 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, located at 17 Pulaski Hwy. in Pine Island. Members of the Legion will form at 7:30 a.m. at the Polish Legion, located at 16 Legion Rd. in Pine Island, and march to the church as a body. The parade in Pine Island will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a cemetery service for departed comrades. Everyone will then proceed to the P.L.A.V. Veterans Memorial for placement of the wreath. An open house with refreshments will follow at the Post Home.
The Memorial Day Parade in the Village of Warwick will begin at 11 a.m. at Village Hall, located at 77 Main St. in Warwick NY, and then will proceed down Main St. and Oakland Ave. to the Warwick Cemetery for a service then along Galloway Rd. to St. Stephen’s Cemetery for a service.
The Florida Memorial Day Parade will start at 2 p.m. on Main St. in the Village of Florida. In Greenwood Lake, a Memorial Day Service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Arthur Finnegan American Legion Post #1443, located at 40 Mountain Lakes Ln. in Greenwood Lake NY.
A Memorial Service will be held by the Col. Augustus van Horne Ellis Camp #124, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) at 6 p.m. in the Amity Cemetery, located at the junction of Amity Rd. & Newport Bridge Rd., Warwick NY.
