Runners in sixth and seventh grade from the Warwick Valley Middle School Mileage Club ran a half mile during halftime of the modified football game on Thurs., Oct. 13. Thirty-nine students ran two full laps around the Tim St. Lawrence track, under the lights, that evening. The students began training about a month prior to the run. Several of the sixth graders have improved their times from last year’s half mile run. Special congratulations to the top runners in each category.
Sixth grade males: Ben Walter (2:45.06), first place overall; Kayden Zachgo (2:58.71), fifth place overall; and Joshua Rodrigues (3:16.92), ninth place overall.
Sixth grade females: Claire Priebke (2:56.99), fourth place overall; India Wickrath (3:12.24), seventh place overall; and Ava Schell (3:21.17), twelfth place overall.
Fifth grade males: Hunter Stuart (2:50.96), second place overall; Thomas Hamersma (2:55.07), third place overall; and Tristan Robles (3:11.81), sixth place overall.
Fifth grade females: Siobhan Kelly (3:14.99), eighth place overall; Sarah Hertner (3:18.24), tenth place overall; and Sierra Blanton (3:20.53), eleventh place overall.
