The Warwick Valley Quilters’ Guild presented 36 quilts to the Hudson Valley Honor Flight organization on Sat., Mar. 25. The honor flights provide the opportunity for World War II and Korean War veterans to travel to Washington, DC, where they visit the war memorials and are honored for their service. Upon their return home, they are welcomed and given mementos of their trip. The patriotic lap sized quilts were presented to the veterans on the Sat., Apr. 8 “Mission Flight #15” Honor Flight from Stewart Airport in Newburgh, NY.
Guild President Susan Krieger and member Carol Johnson presented the quilts to Marty Purdy, Veteran Coordinator for the Hudson Valley Honor Flight. Members of the guild donated the material and created the memory quilts. Last year, the guild donated over 100 quilts for a previous flight and the members look forward to continuing this service.
