The Hudson Valley Polonaise Society announces its selection for Citizens of the Year for 2016-17. Sisters Theresa Paddock and Helen Feagles, members of the Society, are being recognized for their help in keeping the organization running in tip-top shape. They are the daughters of Sophie and Sylvester J. Krasniewicz, who lived and worked in Pine Island.
Helen is a graduate of Warwick High School (1955) where she participated in many clubs and activities. She is a registered nurse and has worked at St. Luke’s Hospital, the Goshen Hospital, St. Anthony Community Hospital, and the Warwick Valley Central School District as a School Nurse at King’s Elementary School. She retired from school nursing in 2000 and presently works for Dr. Beth Louie in Warwick. She is a dedicated member of many organizations such as the Sodality; Rosary Society and CYO of St. Stanislaus Church; the Pine Island Fire Company Auxiliary; and the Kings Elementary PTA. She also belongs to the Orange County School Nurses Association and the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society.
Theresa is a graduate of Warwick High School (1966). She earned a BA from Elms College in Chicopee, MA and an M.Ed. from Dusquesne University. Theresa taught third grade in the Minisink Valley School District for 33 years, retiring in 2004. She supports many organizations including: the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society, St. Stanislaus Rosary Society, the Pine Island Seniors, and the Retired Teachers Association.
