A Skateboard Art Auction will be held on Sun., Aug. 12 at Wickham Woodlands Manor, located at 225 State School Rd. in Warwick. The event will take place from 12 noon to 6 p.m., rain or shine. This event is being hosted by the Greenwood Lake Skatepark Corporation, and is the skatepark’s first ever skateboard art and auction party.
With grant money from the Orange County Arts Council 44, blank skateboard decks were purchased and distributed to local artists to express their artistic talents and return the boards back for the event. The artists range from school age to professional levels. The boards are currently on display at Greenwood Lake Bagels, located at 93 Windermere Ave. in Greenwood Lake.
“Building a skatepark of this scale will not only be good for Greenwood Lake but all of Orange County. It will be one of a kind and a great addition to the community. We are so thankful for all the donations and help with keeping this project on track,” Chris Van Vooren.
During the event, free food and beverages will be provided to everyone, as well as live entertainment by Spitball Parade, and an interactive graffiti for everyone to participate in. The generous food and beverages are being donated by DeMarco’s Pizzeria, The Helm, Emerald Point Restaurant & Marina, Tortuga’s Restaurant and Marina, Greenwood Lake Bagels, The Buzz Cafe, Price Chopper, Greenwood Lake Roasters, Dana Distributors and the Greenwood Lake Chamber of Commerce. All forty-four boards will be auctioned off by a live professional auctioneer – Beckie Kindergan.
This event is being organized by Chris Van Vooren, the Board members of the Greenwood Lake Skatepark Corporation and Tony Donato and family. All proceeds from this event are going directly to the building of the Greenwood Lake Skatepark, a 501c3 organization.
